Bound To Belong ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal information is handled in a safe and responsible manner. This Privacy Policy ("Policy") explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website located at https://boundtobelong.com (the "Website") and purchase personalized books, coloring books, activity books, board books, stickers, gift wrap and other related products ("Products"). Depending on the product you select, we may collect limited personalization information, such as a child’s first name, a sibling’s first name, and a dedication or message written by the purchasing parent or other adult purchaser.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect the following types of information when you use our Website:
(a) Information You Provide to Us
When you create an account, place an order, personalize a Product, contact us, or otherwise interact with the Website, we may collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Shipping and billing address
- Telephone number
- Payment-related information, which is processed by third-party payment processors
- When an adult purchaser personalizes a Product, we may collect the child’s name, a sibling’s name, and the dedication or other message entered by that adult. We do not request or intentionally collect photographs, images, videos, voice recordings, biometric identifiers, precise geolocation, or physical characteristics of the child through the personalization fields. The adult purchaser is responsible for ensuring that the information submitted is appropriate and necessary for the requested Product. Please do not include health information, information about a child’s disability, government identification numbers, financial information, precise location, or other sensitive information in a dedication or free-text field. Free-text messages may contain personal information that you choose to provide. Because dedication messages are free-text fields, we cannot guarantee that a message will not contain information outside the categories described in this Policy. Please review the message before submitting it and do not include information that is unnecessary for personalization. We use the message to create and fulfill the requested Product, provide customer service, address replacement or reprint requests, and meet legal and business obligations. We do not use child personalization information or dedication messages for targeted advertising, cross-context behavioral advertising, or training artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models. We do not use child personalization information to create profiles or inferences about a child.

(c) Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience on our Website. Cookies are small files stored on your device that help us recognize you when you return to our Website. You can manage your cookie preferences in your browser settings. Where required by applicable law, we also recognize and process qualifying browser-based opt-out preference signals as described in Section 5 below.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
To Process Orders: To fulfill orders, process payments, and provide customer support.
To Personalize Products: To personalize, produce, and fulfill Products based on the personalization information and customization selections you provide.
To Improve the Website: To analyze user behavior, improve functionality, and enhance the user experience.
To Communicate with You: To send order confirmations, updates, and marketing communications (if you opt in).
To Comply with Legal Obligations: To comply with applicable laws and regulations, including tax and accounting requirements.
To Provide Customer Service: To respond to inquiries, requests, and resolve any issues.
3. How We Share Your Information
We may share your personal information in the following circumstances:
(a) Service Providers
We may share information with third-party service providers that perform services on our behalf, such as website and ecommerce providers, payment processors, printing and manufacturing providers, personalization and production providers, fulfillment and shipping companies, customer-service providers, email and communications providers, analytics providers, fraud-prevention providers, and other vendors that support our business. These providers may access information only as reasonably necessary to perform services on our behalf and are subject to applicable contractual, confidentiality, or data-protection obligations.
(b) Legal Compliance
We may disclose your personal information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal processes, such as a subpoena, court order, or government inquiry, or to protect the rights, property, and safety of Bound To Belong, its customers, or others.
(c) Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your personal information may be transferred as part of the transaction. We will provide notice regarding such a transfer where required by applicable law.
(d) International Production, Fulfillment, and Transfers
We and our service providers may process personal information in countries other than the country in which you reside, including the United States and India. Certain Products may be printed, manufactured, personalized, or fulfilled by service providers located in India or other jurisdictions.
For these purposes, we may provide production and fulfillment providers with limited information reasonably necessary to create and fulfill an order, which may include order information, Product personalization information such as a child's name, a sibling's name, dedication or other personalization text, and information necessary to prepare the applicable Product.
We may also provide recipient contact, shipping, and order information to manufacturers, fulfillment providers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, postal operators, couriers, last-mile delivery providers, and customs, import/export, or other governmental authorities where reasonably necessary to produce, export, import, clear, ship, or deliver an order.
We take reasonable steps to limit the personal information disclosed for these purposes to information reasonably necessary for the applicable service. Personal information processed in another jurisdiction may be subject to the laws and lawful access requirements of that jurisdiction. Where applicable law requires particular safeguards for a cross-border transfer of personal information, we use appropriate transfer mechanisms or safeguards.
4. Data Retention
We and our service providers retain Product personalization information only for as long as reasonably necessary to create, fulfill, deliver, support, replace, or reproduce the applicable Product, after which we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it in accordance with applicable retention practices, unless longer retention is required or permitted by law. We do not retain child personalization information indefinitely.
Deletion from active systems may not immediately remove information from backup, archival, or disaster-recovery systems. Information maintained in such systems may remain for a limited period consistent with backup and security practices and is not intended to be used for ordinary business purposes while awaiting deletion or overwriting.
We may retain purchaser, transaction, order, shipping, and customer-service records for longer periods where reasonably necessary for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, warranty, product safety or recall purposes, dispute resolution, enforcement of agreements, or compliance with legal obligations.
5. US State Privacy Rights
Depending on where you reside and subject to applicable law, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. These rights may include the right to access or obtain information about your personal information, request correction or deletion, obtain a portable copy of certain personal information, opt out of certain uses or disclosures of personal information, and appeal certain decisions regarding privacy-rights requests.
(a) Opt-Out Preference Signals:
Where required by applicable law, we recognize and process qualifying browser-based opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control ("GPC"), as requests to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or the processing of personal information for targeted advertising, as applicable.
When we receive or detect a qualifying opt-out preference signal, we apply the request to the browser or device from which the signal is sent and to any consumer profile we reasonably associate with that browser or device, as required by applicable law. If you are logged into an account and we can reasonably associate the signal with your account, we will also apply the request to that account where required by applicable law.
You do not need to create an account or provide additional information for us to process an opt-out preference signal for the applicable browser or device. Because these signals may be browser- or device-specific, you may need to enable the signal on each browser or device you use.
6. California Privacy Rights
If the California Consumer Privacy Act ("CCPA"), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CPRA"), applies to us and our processing of your personal information, California residents may have rights including the right to know and access certain personal information, request correction of inaccurate personal information, request deletion of certain personal information, opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, limit certain uses and disclosures of sensitive personal information, and receive equal treatment for exercising their privacy rights, subject to applicable exceptions.
Disclosures for the Preceding 12 Months: In the preceding 12 months, we have not "sold" personal information for monetary value. However, we may "share" certain identifiers (like IP addresses and cookie data) with third-party advertising networks for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the right to opt out of this sharing.
Authorized Agents: You may designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may require the agent to provide proof that you granted them signed permission to submit the request, and we may require you to verify your own identity directly with us.
(a) How to Exercise Your Rights
To exercise your rights under the CCPA, please contact us at [email protected]. We will respond to your request within the time frame required by law.
7. Security of Your Information
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
The Website and its account, purchasing, checkout, and online personalization features are intended for adults, including parents, legal guardians, and other adult purchasers. Children under 13 are not intended to create accounts, place orders, or submit personal information directly through the Website. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through those features.
An adult purchaser may provide limited information about a child for purposes of personalizing and fulfilling a Product. This information may include the child's name, a sibling's name, a dedication or other personalization text, and other customization information specifically requested by the Website. We use child personalization information only as reasonably necessary to personalize, produce, fulfill, deliver, support, replace, or reproduce the applicable Product, and as otherwise required or permitted by law.
We disclose child personalization information only to service providers and vendors that reasonably need the information to perform services on our behalf, such as printing, manufacturing, personalization, production, or fulfillment providers. Some of these providers may be located outside the United States, as described in the International Production, Fulfillment, and Transfers section of this Policy. We take reasonable steps to limit the information disclosed to what is reasonably necessary for the applicable service.
We do not sell child personalization information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use child personalization information for targeted advertising.
Unless a particular Product or Website feature expressly requests such information, you must not submit photographs, videos, voice recordings, biometric information, precise geolocation, government identification numbers, financial-account information, medical or school records, passwords, or other sensitive personal information about a child. You must not provide information about a child that is not reasonably necessary for the requested Product personalization.
If we learn that a child under 13 has submitted personal information directly to us in circumstances where verifiable parental consent was required but was not obtained, we will take reasonable steps to delete the information. A parent or legal guardian may contact us at [email protected] with questions or requests concerning information about their child. We may take reasonable steps to verify the requester's identity and authority to make the request before disclosing, correcting, or deleting information. Requests are subject to applicable law, legitimate retention requirements, and other applicable exceptions.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Where required by applicable law, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent before material changes take effect.
